General Description
Parenting for Non-Violence has created an advisory council to provide an opportunity for persons who are supportive of our mission, who have expertise to share, who have limited time for Board meetings, but who are willing to share their expertise/knowledge, when requested or at specific times - the latter dependent upon our needs and one's availability

- Intervening effectively in the lives of parents and youth to reduce or prevent their involvement in violence
- Building up families and communities by providing parents with the evidence-based information, skills and principles essential for children to become caring, competent, responsible and resilient
- Strengthening adults and parent-child relationships, improving skills to optimize school learning, home environment and the family support system
- Empowering the next generation of parents in our society to become parenting education leaders in their communities
- Creating an awareness of the availability and benefits of parenting education
- Empowering families with education in life skills
General Expectations
- To act solely as an advisor with no Board responsibilities.
- To become knowledgeable about our Mission, Board structure and needs, which may require an initial meeting with the Board President, a Board member or attendance at one Board meeting
- To maintain knowledge of Parenting for Non-Violence by reviewing ongoing communication from P4NV regarding its activities through copies of minutes and newsletters
- To be available to respond to a request for specific advice from the Board or Executive Director. Communication process will be agreed upon with each individual and may be through emails, texts, phone calls or, occasionally, attendance at a Board meeting or with the Executive Board.
- To serve as an ambassador by creating awareness of P4NV's mission and activities
- To attend and participate in the bi-annual meetings of the Advisory Council to be chaired by the President of the Board.
Terms of Office
A member of the Advisory Council is asked to commit to serve two years on the Council. At the end of the two years, a member may be asked to serve for an additional two years. The number of years a person may serve on the Council will be limited only by the member's interest and time constraints.

We are currently recruiting educators to facilitate parenting skills and financial literacy workshops at various locations and virtually in the Chicagoland area.
We are seeking applications from bi-lingual Spanish speaking adults and African American adults with experience in teaching or leading group presentations to facilitate parenting education and/or financial literacy workshops.
P4NV Educator/Facilitator Position Description
Facilitate group-based presentations (virtually) in support of positive and effective parenting and healthy family life initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Work with parents/families in groups utilizing the P4NV program model. Develop and maintain positive, supportive working relationships with the participants and their families, hosting facilities directors, and staff.
Qualifications
Ability to keep current on literature and research in the field of child development and parenting and family life issues and/or financial literacy,
Excellent writing and communication skills,
Self-motivated,
Reliable, organized, and timely,
Ability to conduct presentations using virtual tools such as Zoom.

Work with parents/families in groups utilizing the P4NV program model. Develop and maintain positive, supportive working relationships with the participants and their families, hosting facilities directors, and staff.
- Participate in a parenting training session(s) and orientation
- Prepare to understand and deliver the curriculum well
- Submit post report and pre & post surveys to P4NV after the completion of the workshop
- Have the ability to work flexible hours
Qualifications

P4NV Curricula Research Team Position(s)
Curricula Researcher must passionately believe in the value of a parenting education and healthy family life initiatives. This role will support the identification of existing and development of new training that will be delivered via in-person multi-day learning events, focusing on the unique needs of the parent and their children, and overall family well-being.
The P4NV needs under the umbrella of Curricula Research Team are described below:
- Assist in developing/identifying new program materials – Gang Prevention/Intervention, Financial Literacy, Stress Management, and other family life topics.
- Provide information on new evidence/research-based program or programs for parents
- Recommend workshop speakers (Family Finances, Sexting, Social Media Pitfalls, etc.)
- Recommend FOCUS group session questions/materials
- Recommend ancillary resources/referrals in family life
Qualifications
Ability to keep current on literature and research in the field of child development and parenting and family life issues.
